What types of dentures are available?

At Impressions Dental Studio, we offer a range of dentures. These include:

Standard dentures

If you’ve worn a denture without major functional issues, this type of procedure may be quite suitable for your needs. Very rarely will we exceed the level of performance that you have received from your prior denture with this technique. For a lot of people, the standard denture is fine.

A standard denture is a cost-effective option, but it is important to note that it provides less predictable results and one should allow for a higher margin of error than a precision denture.

Precision dentures

When making a precision denture, many of your individual anatomical references are gathered. These details are then transferred to the laboratory where your natural jaw movements can be closely replicated. The result: a more natural fitting, feeling and aesthetic denture.

Precision dentures are designed and created using state-of-the-art technology, equipment and materials. Fortunately, a revolutionary injection moulding system has been developed that completely compensates for the processing shrinkage of the denture base material.

The injection technology used in this new system is considered the state-of-the-art in denture processing. The accuracy of this process results in a denture that will provide you with the best fit possible. You can eat, talk and smile with confidence with your denture.

Immediate dentures

To avoid the situation of being without teeth, your dental prosthetist can implement the immediate denture process.

This involves taking impressions of your mouth while your natural teeth are still present. The prosthetist is then able to create a copy and construct a denture, duplicating your original teeth or if you wish, they may construct a denture to compliment your appearance.

When your natural teeth are extracted, your dentist then inserts your immediate denture. This allows you to go through the healing process without having to go without teeth. After the healing period, there are further options available to ensure a comfortable and exact fit.

Partial dentures

Partial dentures are often recommended in cases where one has some healthy remaining teeth.

Sometimes also referred to as plate, partial dentures are important in maintaining the natural teeth that are remaining. One’s eating ability and appearance are also enhanced by partial dentures. The remaining gums and natural teeth support these dentures.

At Impressions Dental Studio, we offer the following types of partial dentures:

Acrylic partial denture:

In this type of denture, a base plate of acrylic material is used on which the denture teeth are attached. The denture is kept in place with the help of metal clasps that serve the role of holding it around other teeth. This is an affordable option.

Metal partial denture:

Metal partial dentures can be used for one tooth or multiple teeth and are made to blend with the remaining natural teeth. These can be made using either acrylic, chrome or flexible materials, depending on your individual needs.

Flexible partial denture:

For removable flexible partial dentures, a versatile material known as thermo-plastic is used. The material is used on account of the flexibility and strength that it offers. It also offers natural looks and is highly aesthetic as well. As compared to flexible dentures, the cost of cobalt chrome dentures tends to be more. On the other hand, the flexible dentures are more costly when compared to acrylic dentures.
